Physical and Physical activity

For this action project we are pursuing a declaration of our own independent study that we believe should be a part of the GCE curriculum. I chose service because it is something I participate in after school, and thoroughly enjoy and have now chosen as a career path. In this action project we also studied how important it is to stay in argument when creating a declaration of our independent study. We learn the different parts of an argument which are premise and the conclusion. We also learned about how argument has developed as a literary form since 1776 when our declaration of independence was created. We are using some of the themes and important aspects from the Declaration of Independence to contribute to the course takers understanding of how the course can help express their rights affect their life.

The course I would like to propose to GCE is a course based on circus. This is an excellent independent study because it connects to math your physical health and your mental and emotional health. This will give students to have a chance that they most likely wouldn't have in their life to go and experience what it's like to do trapeze silks learn how to juggle and even walk on the globe. My independent study will open up the window for kids to find a new activity that they really like and also for them to better their math skills and their physical health.

The purpose of school and learning is to gather as many tools and information as possible and use it to go onto the world and better. School also opens the window for opportunity, school allows you to have a place that's safe you can learn discover and even create things that nobody has ever seen before. School is a place for innovators to be who they want to be so that they can teach the next generation. Schools also place where you can learn how to exercise your rights. The course I'm proposing definitely allows you to exercise your right of freedom of speech and expression. This is something that a lot of students don't fully understand because some people will say obscene things and say oh it's a free country I have freedom of speech. But there are some important guidelines that go into that and really think about what you're saying and its importance.

The words I would use to describe this course are engaging challenging innovative and exciting even eye-opening. I use the word challenging because I assume most people have never tried this art form, or form of physical activity. But I know for a fact that it is definitely really good for your health and can make huge improvements in you physically mentally and emotionally. The question that I would ask the students at the beginning of this course is, how does physics fit in physical activity relate? Some important things needed to make this course possible are good coaches, a gym to practice that, a teacher sponsor, a willing group of students, a little time outside of class and a willingness to try.

Capture the Light

Capture the Light
For this action project we studied light and it relationship between waves, particles and energy. We proved the theory's we  studied in class through and activity were we created pinhole cameras. We took an FE to the Latin School to test are pinhole cameras and develop are photos in there dark room. We also got to experiment with the process of  developing a photo-gram. This then lead to the study of  triangles and that is how photos are taken and flipped upside-down when the light hits them. In the dark room there were different chemical stations that you would wash your film for various amounts of time. When it came to rinsing the photo-grams once they were done being washed we put the pictures through a special photo dryer. Something we did not have to do with the other film photos that were taken with my pinhole camera. we also got a chance to use real cameras to take pictures of candy with different color backgrounds. This help us figure out what things we should add and change to are pin holes to make them efficient.

How a Pin-hole Camera Works
A pinhole camera uses a tin or box that is all the way light proof meaning the inside is coated with black paper, paint and or paper and this allows the device to be like proof. There's a tiny pinhole poke on the side of the device with a reflective surface this allows the camera to capture light. But you must make sure that you have a cover otherwise like and get in and will ruin your film before you're ready to shoot your photo. My pinhole device shows how you do not want reflection that is why the inside is solid black so that no light is bouncing around when it should just be focusing on the field.

Math Portion
The reason why the inside of the camera cannot be white paper inside is because of some basic principles relating to light energy as a particle and a wave. When the light waves hit the pinhole the transfer into particles that are left behind on the film. When it comes to proportions of your pinhole camera you have to be very precise. Because you don't want to have your photo paper be too close to far from the pinhole, my measurement from lens to photo paper was 9 cm the height of the pinhole was a .5 cm the head of the object was 10 cm. this creates the shape of the similar triangle. In the image below you can learn how to calculate similar triangles.

 Conclusion
I would have made my pin-hole camera out of a box instead of a tin so I could have a place to put my film. I also would have taken my pictures for a shorter amount of time. I also would have liked to bring in a more simple so that even when the photos did not come out the way or as clearly as we wanted i could better see what basic shapes the camera could capture. Something else so keep in mind while creating these cameras is when making them light proof triple check because even though I thought I thought I made it light proof still a little light was able to seep in some how and that ruined my second photo. But I have to say that over all this was a very fun way to study light and make art.
